Destinos (Part I)
Unit I covers episodes 01 and 02. It introduces you to the series, the main characters, and the basics of the story. In this unit, you will learn the following: cognates, family members / articles, gender, possession, ser.
Unit II covers episodes 03 to 06 and takes place in Seville, Spain. Episode 06 includes a review of this unit (II). In this unit, you will learn the following: academic subjects, animals, days of the week, numbers (0-21), telling time / adjectives, estar, hay, interrogatives, ir, personal a, present tense (regular verbs), subject pronouns.
Unit III covers episodes 07 to 11 and takes place in Madrid, Spain. Episode 11 includes a review of this unit (III). In this unit, you will learn the following: clothing, colors, descriptive adjectives, interrogatives, months, numbers (21-99), seasons / adjectives (additional), conocer, demonstratives, possession (additional), present tense (irregular verbs, stem-changing verbs), reflective pronouns, saber.
Unit IV covers episodes 12 to 18 and takes place in Argentina. Episode 18 includes a review of this unit (IV). In this unit, you will learn the following: food groups (meat, fish, fruits, vegetables, etc.), numbers (100-1000), writing & written works / adjectives (additional), gustar (and verbs like it), object pronouns (direct, indirect and together), object pronouns (of prepositions), prepositions, preterite tense, verbs (used reflexively and non-reflexively).
Unit V covers episodes 19 to 26 and takes place in Puerto Rico. Episode 25 includes a review of the prior unit (IV) and episode 26 includes a review of this unit (V). In this unit, you will learn the following: changes in states and condition, descriptive adjectives (additional), domestic appliances, family members (additional), giving directions, parts of a house, weather / acabar de, affirmatives and negatives, al + infinitive, comparisons, estar and sentirse with adjectives, hace, hace…que, idioms with tener, imperfect, imperfect and preterit together, por and para, present and past progressive.
At times you will hear narration in English that will explain things and help you follow along. You will also hear a lot of Spanish. The following kinds of Spanish are used:
- Spanish spoken directly to you by the narrator, which you will learn to understand with relative ease.
- Spanish spoken directly to you by a special character, who will review the highlights of the video episode for you at the end of each show.
- Spanish spoken by the characters to one another, which at first will be more difficult for you to understand.
